Slowly removing christmas.

What a wet day !

I'm on week 2 now, my eyes are stinging and my nose is running but no more nausea, and not tired yet...it's when I get tired that I worry about getting sick. That's probably when my white blood cell count is lowest.

Supposed to be 3 weeks between treatments but the last two treatments have been too strong for me and my white blood cell count was rock bottom so I had to wait an extra week before they would let me have more. Twice.

They've lowered the dosages this last time so I'm hoping to pick up the pace a bit.
I just want it all over with.

I go in there...not hungry, not thirsty...and there's this trolley full of huge syringes and bags of chemicals that have my name on them.
Takes about 2 hours to get them all into my veins.
Start with the ones that stop me from throwing up when they put the other cancer drugs in me.
The cancer drugs stop my cells from dividing. Not just any cancer cells but also all my cells that replenish themselves frequently.
Like my mucous membranes, my hair (not just on my head), and my bone marrow where red & white blood cells are replenished.
With a low white blood cell count, there's nothing to fight off any infections so if I get a cold or a fever, it's straight into hospital on an antibiotic drip.
And we don't want that!
A person could get sick in there!

So it's like I'm hibernating really...off work because I would come into contact with the travelling public if I was working and we all know how the travelling public like to share their latest germ.

This is week 2. Second week after treatment.
First week is all about nausea...and just thinking about or smelling some food can really make me feel ill.
Second week is sore eyes and runny nose and losing hair.
Third week is sitting down frequently, tired for no reason...
And then, just when you start to feel better....it's chemo time!!!

As much as you want it over with...you just do not want it.

But there are many many worse off than me.
With much more terrible treatments as well.

I am lucky really.

Even if the weather is crap here.

Well.
Didn't make it to the charity shop.
Got to the Post Office though in the freezing cold....my scarf wrapped around my face...no hair on the top.

People mistake me for a boy or a lesbian...but who cares?
At least I'm alive.

Can't wait till this chemo business is finished..
Gruesome, disgusting stuff !

We're off !!!

Waiting for the day to begin....black skies turning to grey.
All the rubbish visible again.
Nice.

No leaves on the naked trees...brrr.

Today I make it my project to haul those bags of shit down to the charity shop (so they can throw it all out).
I might look for another jigsaw while I'm there, and a book or 2.

I'm off work right now and must plan my days to keep busy.
I'm in the middle of chemotherapy treatment.

I had surgery for breast cancer in September....
Still got pretty much a matching pair...but need chemo then radio therapy then hormone therapy....

Which kinda upsets my life style for about 6 months...
From working 2 jobs to staying home to avoid contact with other people and their germs.
So the jigsaws and books come in handy.

Boring stuff.

Thought I might start this blog...just to keep me busy a few extra minutes each day.....

I'm off.....look out world, here I come !
